The set comprises five white jade pendants carved with high relief and are semi- translucent (5)
a) A rectangular openwork plague, carved on one side as a phoenix with a lotus flower and foliage, representing luck, foresight and tranquility, surrounded by a low relief convex form with scalloped border;
b) A gourd-form openwork plague, carved with two characters ‘daji’ (auspiciousness) and gourd signifying health, safety and wellbeing;
c) Carved as ‘Liu Hai’, both hands spent money to bring with it wealth, representing prosperity and wealth;
d) Carved as double eggplants borne on a leafy vine with tendrils trailing down the side;
e) Carved as a figure of two sitting monkeys, with a patch of pale brown as a branch with double peaches and the infant extending from the adult monkey’s shoulders, signifying longevity and health
