Accompanied by a report from the Swiss Gemmological Institute (SSEF) stating that the analysed properties confirm the authenticity of this non-nacreous natural melo pearl from a marine gastropod and has no indications of artificial color modification, report no. 78731, dated 11th March 2015
Accompanied by a gemological report stating that the pearl is natural saltwater pearl and treatment none, the observed characteristics being similar to those of ‘clam’ pearls, report no. 3963/12, dated 15th November 2012

Melo and Clam pearls are both calcareous concretion, meaning non-nacreous natural pearls. They are composed of essentially the same materials as pearls but in coarser form, which create the fascinating fibrous structure.
Melo pearl is one of the most precious and scarcest pearls in the world, nurtured by MeloMelo marine snails. Melo pearl’s color ranges from light tan to dark brown, but bright vivid orange being the most sought-after. Due to its fire-like orange color and flame-like pattern, melo pearls are often associated with the emperors and dragons in the East, a symbol of sovereignty. The most famous and largest melo pearl recorded in history weighs 397.52 carats – about the size of a Ping-Pong ball, is currently in the estate of the late Vietnamese emperor, Bao Dai.
Like melo pearl, clam pearl is hugely significant in the Eastern culture. Tridacna clam, the mother of clam pearl, is one of the seven treasures in Buddhism. It is believed that the country would flourish if three of the treasures are obtained and a collection of seven will bring peace to the people. Sheer white bodycolor in conjunction with looming wet silk pattern is considered the most desirable. Lot 2141, consist of a melo pearl and a clam pearl, both attain all astounding characters mention above, to acquire two of the rarest pearls at once, is definitely a once in a lifetime chance and must not be missed.
