The tortoise is naturalistically standing with its head forward, the creature with a hexagonal pattern in the manner of a tortoise’s shell, scutes are decorated with lotus heads on scrolling foliage, peaches and ruyi details, the legs embellished with archaistic scrolls. The finely worked gilt metal cloisons are filled with vivid enamels, all reserved on a turquoise, peacock blue and ruset ground, the base with an apocryphal Qianlong mark, figure measuring approximately 37.00 x 29.00 x 16.50 cm
