The term ‘Zimmi’ refers to a town in the Pujehun district of southern Sierra Leone famously known for its fancy vivid yellow diamonds with striking saturation mined from alluvial deposit. ‘Zimmi’ yellow diamonds are classified as ‘Type Ib’ due to its high nitrogen content which is responsible for its remarkable coloration that’s unparalleled with any ordinary canary yellow diamonds. Top-quality ‘Zimmi’ yellow diamonds above 4 carats are considered extremely rare and are highly sought after.
